Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 29th, 2026
Cloud Wander Studios ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have.

This policy covers:
-
cloudwanderstudios.com and its subdomains
-
typehunters.cloudwanderstudios.com and any other browser games we host
-
Our newsletter and any contact or support forms

It does not cover third-party platforms where we also have a presence. Discord, Instagram, X, YouTube, SoundCloud and Ko-fi each have their own privacy policies, and your use of those services is governed by them.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Cloud Wander Studios is an independent creative project.
For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights described in section 8, contact us at admin@cloudwanderstudios.com. We respond to all requests.

If you require our full registered details, for example to make a formal data protection request or a complaint to a supervisory authority, email us and we will provide them.
2. What we collect
2.1 When you visit the website
-
Usage and analytics data — pages visited, time on page, approximate location (country or region level), browser and device type. Collected by our hosting provider, Wix.
-
Technical data — IP address and browser user-agent, processed by our hosts to serve pages and protect against abuse.

2.2 When you subscribe or contact us
-
Email address
-
Any message content you choose to send us through a form
-
Name, if you provide one

2.3 When you play our browser games
-
Gameplay statistics, completion time, accuracy, words per minute, combo length, attacks used, mistakes, and similar in-game figures.
-
Local browser storage, we store your personal best score in your own browser using localStorage. This never leaves your device unless you submit a score.
-
Technical data, IP address, processed by our hosting provider to serve the game and to apply rate limits.

2.4 When you submit a score to a leaderboard
Submitting a score is always optional. You can play the entire game without submitting anything.

If you do submit:
-
A display name that you choose. This is published publicly on the leaderboard, visible to anyone who visits the page. Choose accordingly, do not use your real name if you do not want it public.
-
Your gameplay statistics for that run, as listed above.
-
A keystroke timing log, see the next section, because we think this one deserves a proper explanation.
-
An anonymous player identifier stored in your browser, so we can distinguish players without requiring an account.
-
IP address and submission timestamp, for rate limiting and abuse prevention.

2.5 Keystroke timing data, what it is and why we collect it
To keep the leaderboard honest, when you submit a score your browser sends us a record of when each key was pressed during that run, the timing intervals, not a log of your activity outside the game. We use this to replay your run on our server and confirm the score is genuine, and to detect automated play.

We want to be upfront that typing rhythm is reasonably distinctive between individuals. We do not use it to identify anyone, we do not link it to any other data about you, we do not share it, and we do not use it for any purpose other than verifying that a submitted score is real.

We keep these logs for 30 DAYS and then delete them. If a run is flagged as suspicious we may keep that specific log for up to 90 DAYS while we review it.
We only ever record keystrokes inside the game's own typing field, and only during an active run.
3. Why we process it, and on what legal basis
Based on your consent:
-
Sending you newsletter and marketing emails, if you have opted in
-
Publishing your score and chosen display name on a leaderboard, if you choose to submit one

Based on our legitimate interests:
-
Website analytics, so we can understand what people read and improve the site
-
Replying to messages you send us
-
Running the games and displaying your results
-
Verifying submitted scores through keystroke analysis, so the leaderboard means something
-
Processing IP addresses for security, rate limiting and abuse prevention

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Unsubscribe links appear in every marketing email, and you can ask us to remove a leaderboard entry using the contact address in section 1.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether our interest in running a functioning, non-cheatable game outweighs the impact on your privacy, and we have kept the data collected to the minimum needed. You have the right to object to this processing — see section 8.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and similar browser storage in two ways:

-
Strictly necessary — keeping the site working, plus security and load balancing. These are set by our hosting providers.
-
Analytics — provided by Wix, to understand site usage.

Our games use localStorage, which is not a cookie but works similarly, to remember your personal best score and an anonymous player identifier. You can clear this at any time through your browser's site-data settings, which will reset your local best score.

You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary storage may stop parts of the site or games working.
5. Who else processes your data
We use the following service providers. They process data on our behalf under contract, and each has its own privacy policy:

-
Wix — website hosting, analytics, newsletter and forms
-
Vercel — hosting for our browser games and their APIs
-
Our database provider— leaderboard and score storage
-
SoundCloud — embedded audio players
-
Ko-fi — voluntary donations

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers are based outside the European Economic Area, mainly in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
7. How long we keep things
-
Newsletter subscription — until you unsubscribe
-
Contact form messages — 2 years from your last contact
-
Website analytics — as set by Wix's own retention settings
-
Leaderboard entries — until you ask us to remove them, or the board is reset
-
Keystroke logs — 30 days, or 90 days if flagged for review
-
Server and security logs — 90 days
8. Your rights
If you are in the EU, EEA or UK, you have the right to:

-
Access the personal data we hold about you
-
Rectify anything inaccurate
-
Erase your data, sometimes called the right to be forgotten
-
Restrict how we process it
-
Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including our anti-cheat verification
-
Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
-
Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that already happened

To exercise any of these, email admin@cloudwanderstudios.com. We will respond within one month.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority. If you are in the EEA, you can find your national authority through the European Data Protection Board at edpb.europa.eu. If you are in the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

If you are a California resident, you have comparable rights of access, deletion and correction, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
9. Children
Our games and website are not directed at young children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 14.

If you are under that age, please do not submit a leaderboard score or subscribe to our newsletter without a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections over HTTPS across our site and games, and restricted access to stored data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our sites and games change. The "Last Updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. For significant changes affecting how we use your data, we will give notice on the website.
